As we continue into spring, you may have noticed how packed the local hiking trails have been on the weekends. While there are many benefits to hiking with a large group of people, (such as making new friends and finding new trails) sometimes it’s nice to vamoose from society with your loved ones or by yourself. Perhaps you’ve just been longing to try out some new trails but aren’t sure where to look. Worry not good people of the Foothills! Clavey is here to give you an inside scoop on some of our favorite trails in the area. If you’re looking for a nice escape from the heat, Cascade Canal Trail located east of Nevada City is the hike for you. Being cooler and higher than most local trails at an 3,200 feet elevation. The shade offered by Douglas firs and Dogwoods, offer many opportunities to experience the beautiful scenery.
For those of you looking to break more of a sweat, there’s another trail nearby that’s more than willing to break you in! The Pioneer Trail in Nevada City offers anywhere from a mild 10 minute hike you can take the kids on, to a moderate 25 mile hike. This hike also offers some great mountain biking trails for our bike lovers out there.
We hope you get the opportunity to experience at least one of these Nevada City trails… And remember, don’t forget to “wine down” afterwards at our tasting room located on 232 Commercial Street!
