While the weather continues to warm up, you may find yourself wondering about different ways to take advantage of it. Some of the most enjoyable ways to soak up the sun include hikes and going to the river (or pool)… but perhaps you have been yearning for something a little different. As you may know, our family has a love for the white water sports, and Clavey Vineyards & Winery, has quite the history behind it!
While rafting down Clavey Falls, a Class V rapid on the Tuolumne River, Marc Orman and his brother encountered an unforgettable experience which caused the brothers to lose their food and gear. After rescuing themselves from the all consuming rapid and cautiously finishing their trip, Marc returned home to his family telling the tale of flipping and swimming the rapid as their gear and beer were swallowed-up by the “river gods”. Soon after his return, Marc witnessed the birth of his second son who was named Daniel Clavey, as to always remember the positive outcome of what could have been a fateful day on the river.
Now that you know the history, do you think you have what it takes to conquer the
Clavey Falls? Considering the Tuolumne River should be reserved for a more seasoned rafter/kayaker maybe you’re looking for something a little more mellow. Locally, the South Fork of the American River is the ideal rafting destination for people looking for a relaxing day out on the water. Or, if you’re looking for more of an adventure, try floating down the Middle Fork! Book your next rafting experience with H2o Adventures.
